Way to go, pound, shilling and pence, she may be a snob but she is a tight one. I can see her eyes lighting up already.

“Not to mention people will talk about this day for weeks, months, years later, saying ‘remember Vanessa North? She pulled out all stops for her daughter’s wedding. The best I have ever been to, it was almost royal.” And we have hit the jackpot, mum’s constant obsession of always being one-step ahead of the ‘Jones’s.

“Well, now you put it like that, Luke, it sounds wonderful. I certainly don’t know of any wedding that I have been to that is so unique. Weddings can be so very much the same and boring can’t they?”

I had never felt sexually attracted to him; after all, he was and always would be the bestest friend I had in the world.

Luke and I arrived home in the early hours of the morning, a little worse for the wear, collapsing onto the couch.

“So, how does it feel, your
